Introducing the Jarrolds Signature Collection

The Jarrolds signature is an enduring part of our history and of Norfolk life. It is set into the London Street building George Skipper redesigned for us, and it ran through the pages of Black Beauty when we printed the novel here in 1877. For more than two centuries it has been the mark we put to work we believe in, and now it sits on something new.

The Jarrolds Signature Collection is our own range of beauty, wellness and home products, made with craftspeople here in Norfolk. The signature on each one is real, taken from our archive and recomposed in copper as a nod to the bronzes and copperwork of our history. We apply it only to products we are willing to sign.

Why now?

This collection draws on two things we have spent generations building, a mark that means something and people around us who make things beautifully. We already work with local producers on Our Type of Food, our own-brand food range, and Signature carries the same idea into the home, where the county's craft is chosen and signed with our name on it.

Look closely at the packaging and you will find another layer from the archive. We have taken pages, prints and marks from our past and set them into new compositions, in the way old manuscripts were once written over and written again, so that the old is carried forward into something new. Designers call it a palimpsest; we think of it as time you can see, still alive on the surface. It gives the collection texture today and a canvas that can keep changing as the range grows, balancing new with old and Jarrolds with the region.

The collection covers the small rituals of the day and the rooms they happen in. Hand wash, hand lotion, body wash and body lotion sit at its heart, joined by hand soaps, candles and diffusers, with gifts and seasonal edits to follow as we grow into the county and beyond. Each product draws on what and where we know best - Norfolk - giving us some of the raw natural materials and lots of inspiration, from the herbs along its lanes and saltmarsh edges to the makers who understand this county as well as we do.

The scent begins with bergamot, a subtle citrus that freshens without crowding a room. In the core range of hand wash, hand lotion, body wash and body lotion it opens the way for Norfolk thyme, picked for the hedgerow note our county knows well. Our soaps blend essential oils chosen to stir familiar memories, and the candle and diffuser carry bergamot alone, a quiet note that complements a home rather than filling it.

These are products made to last and to live quietly and well in your home, a talking point, but one that doesn't overpower the room.

You will begin to see the signature in a few more places too as we work with local partners to offer quality products into other retail and hospitality settings.
