Chateau Patache d'Aux Medoc Cru Bourgeois 1.5L

The estate has 63 hectares planted with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, split over three distinct geological sites. Thirty hectares of vines planted on the nearby Bégadan limestone plateau provide the wine with freshness and tension, whereas the twenty hectares located on the calcareous clay surrounding the plateau tend to ripen later, producing small berries with concentrated tannins which lend both power and structure to the blend.

The remaining thirteen hectares lie on the warmest site, planted on Garonne gravel and clay sand soils, which produce bright juicy fruit to give the wine a soft and rounded character.

Patache d'Aux are one of the stars of the top end of the Medoc and their 2014, which is in perfect shape for immediate drinking, is a great example of their style. Aged for 12 months in oak barriques before bottling the blend is around 60% Cabernet Sauvignon with the remainder being mainly Merlot. The aromas are of black cherries and liquorice with some herbal and spicy hints while on the palate some ripe blackcurrant flavours also come through and lead onto a rounded and pleasantly rich finish.
