The Ragroof Tea Dance, A Masked Ball

The Halls, Norwich | Sunday 10 May, 2PM

Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2026

The Ragroof Tea Dance has been a staple of Norfolk & Norwich Festival’s programme for many years. For those not in the know, the Tea Dance is a wonderful, nostalgic trip to the dancehalls of yesteryear, packed full of vintage music and dance.

Featuring authentic music from the 1920s through to the 1950s, and beyond, the Tea Dances are a fantastic participatory event, whether you’re a novice dancer or a pro. Featuring DJs playing authentic music, glamorous costumes, glorious dance displays, dance hosts to help get you onto the floor, and ‘Instant Dance Classes’, there’s the opportunity for everyone to trip the light fantastic!

Everyone is welcome, no partners needed. The Ragroof Team’s unique gender-free approach to partner dancing encourages everyone to take part.

Each year the event takes a different theme which guides the dances and allows everyone who wants a chance to dress-up.  This year’s theme is the ‘Masked Ball’. Draw your inspiration from the traditional Venice Carnival, the elegant ballrooms of Vienna or think a more modern take, such as David Bowie’s Labyrinth and Baz Luhrman’s Romeo + Juliet. Goblin Kings, Wicked Queens, Fairy tale Princesses, and fabulous costumed creatures of all sorts are very welcome… but not obligatory!

This year the event takes place at the newly renovated Halls in Norwich and is once again proudly supported again by Jarrolds. Tea and a Jarrolds scone included in your ticket price.

So… do come to the ball!

The Ragroof Tea Dance, A Masked Ball takes place at The Halls on Sunday 10 May at 2pm. Tickets are £15 and are available from the festival Box Office on 01603 531800 or online here.
