Expect vibrant New World Sauvignon Blanc-style flavours, lifted with delicate floral aromas. Fresh, elegant, and beautifully balanced, it is equally enjoyable served on its own or paired with your favourite summer dishes.

Few grape varieties have become as closely associated with English wine as Bacchus has with East Anglia and Norfolk. Much like Pinot Grigio is linked with Veneto in Italy or Sauvignon Blanc with Marlborough in New Zealand, Bacchus has found its natural home among the vineyards of our region.

Created in Germany in 1933 from a crossing of Silvaner and Riesling with Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus was officially released in 1972. Initially used as a supporting grape to enhance blends, it soon earned a reputation of its own, particularly in regions where its reliable yields and expressive flavours could truly shine.

Its natural tolerance for cooler climates made Bacchus an ideal choice for the emerging English wine industry. Among the vineyards that helped establish its reputation is Winbirri Vineyard, whose 2015 Bacchus gained international recognition when it was awarded Best White Wine in the World from a single grape variety by Decanter in 2017.

Today, with more mature vines and years of refinement behind them, Winbirri’s Bacchus continues to impress. The established vines are producing wines of even greater depth and character, showcasing why this variety has become a signature of Norfolk.

2025 Flint Vineyard Rosé | Earsham, Norfolk

Normal Price: £20

Wine Club Price: £16

Flint Vineyard’s first public release rosé is a perfect example of the estate’s distinctive approach to winemaking: thoughtful, complex, and full of surprises.

Known for their innovative style, particularly through wines such as their Silex, Flint have created a rosé that goes beyond the expected. A blend led by Pinot Noir, with touches of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, this is a serious summer wine made with food in mind.

On the nose, it offers generous aromas of ripe strawberries alongside layers of fresh hedgerow fruit. The palate is crisp and dry, with a refreshing structure that brings out the elegance of the fruit without overwhelming it.

Light enough for warm afternoons yet complex enough for the dinner table, this is a wine that perfectly captures the spirit of summer in Norfolk.

A serious wine for fun times.

2020 | 62 Anniversario Primitivo di Manduria Riserva | San Marzano, Puglia, Italy

Normal Price: £29.75

Wine Club Price: £23.80

Our final selection takes us from Norfolk to the sun-soaked vineyards of Puglia, where tradition, community, and craftsmanship come together in this outstanding Primitivo Riserva.

The story begins in 1962, when nineteen vine growers in San Marzano joined forces to create a cooperative dedicated to producing wines that represented the very best of their land. Over the decades, that vision has grown into a thriving community of more than 1,200 members.

The vineyards sit in the Gulf of Taranto, in the inner heel of Italy’s boot, surrounded by landscapes filled with olive groves and tomato fields. The region’s hot, dry climate and rich red soils provide the perfect conditions for the Primitivo grape, allowing the fruit to develop exceptional concentration and intensity.

Aged for 18 months in American oak barrels, this Riserva delivers remarkable depth and complexity. From the first sip, flavours of ripe prunes, cherry jam, and warming spice emerge, followed by a long, luxurious finish of cocoa, coffee, and vanilla.

Presented in a substantial, high-quality bottle, this is a wine that reflects the care and craftsmanship inside. Rich, powerful, and beautifully balanced, it is a standout example of what Primitivo can achieve.
