We’re thrilled to bring you a slice of good news: we've announced the winners of Jarrold Stories, our short story competition launched at the start of the summer, inviting entrants to compose stories inspired by Jarrold to help us celebrate our 250th birthday this year.

We had over 200 entries and the standard of writing was impressive across all the age groups. While so much has had to shut down these past months, it’s clear that your creativity and literary talents are thriving! Thank you to everyone who entered and we hope you enjoyed the challenge.

The final selection was judged by Henry Sutton (author and director of Creative Writing at the UEA) and Pete Goodrum (writer and broadcaster, author of Jarrold 250: A History).

A huge congratulations to all the winners, whose stories you can read in full on our Jarrold Stories page, along with those by all of the shortlisted authors.

BBC Radio Norfolk ran a special feature on the competition, during which the winners read us extracts from their stories.

Thanks to the seven professional authors who each contributed their own short story – we are honoured to have this collection that readers and customers can now browse and enjoy at their leisure.
