Bonacchi Vin Santo del Chianti 2008? 50cl
A traditional Tuscan medium-sweet dessert wine with a very rich embracing texture that lingers well on the palate.
There are heady aromas of candied fruit, toffee and caramel through to a palate with balanced sweetness and warm alcohol on the finish.
Vin Santo translates to "Saint's Wine" or "Holy Wine". It is Italy's most traditional dessert wine and can trace its origins back to the earliest centuries. Cantina Bonacchi, located in the heart of Montalbano, has been making fine Tuscan wines for three generations. Carefully selected grapes were chosen and put into small oak barrels but not filled to the top to allow oxidation to occur. Sealed tight, the Vin Santo is left to age in the same barrel for about 5 years, the result is a beautifully balanced sweetness.
Serve after a main meal as a palate cleanser or with traditional Cantuccini biscuits. Will also match most desserts and strong cheeses which makes it a superb dessert wine.
